Looking for Judy Brunet? You're in the right place.

Judy Wing (Brunet)

Judy Wing (Brunet)Judy Wing returned to the Comox Valley from the island community of Sointula in 2003. This small Finnish rural settlement on Malcolm Island is home to roughly six hundred full time residents, off the north eastern coast of Vancouver Island. It's single lane roads, breath taking ocean views, and limited amenities made her feel as though she had stepped back in time. Her inspirations as a songwriter and performer were incubated in this small rural community where the lives of utopian idealists, artisans and entrepreneurs have been interwoven through necessity and circumstance.

Judy is a self taught musician, playing both acoustic guitar and keyboard, and she brings a unique style and repertoire to the stage. Her smooth low range vocals and expressive nuances  have made her a memorable acoustic performer who can croon a sentimental favourite, an earthy folk tune or add a comedic twist. In addition to songwriting, Judy owns a copywriting business that supplies web content and promotional materials for other artists and businesses..

Born in Southern Alberta, and raised in Calgary, Judy was first introduced to performing as a youth by musician and school teacher Mansel Davies, an influential musical inspiration in her formative years. At his suggestion, she auditioned for a television program that featured young talent. These childhood experiences of performance and community involvement left a strong impression on the value of self expression and the artistic community.

Judy has been making up songs for as long as she can remember, and gradually learned to articulate the more complicated landscapes of life, love and ambivalence. A love for harmony has always attracted her to choral singing, small ensembles, and duets with content ranging from the classical to the comedic. She enjoys the gratifying exchange between her audiences, fellow performers and the music. Her early musical influences included teen favorites Carole King, Carly Simon, and Christine McVie, however her inspirations have always been found closer to home in fellow musicians, songwriters and performers.

Bruce Wing

Bruce WingWhen it comes to Bruce's interests, there are always strings attached! Bruce has always been drawn to instruments with strings and is a self-taught musician playing guitar, mandolin, and electric bass. Bruce has enjoyed the opportunity of playing in a variety of touring groups, studio recordings, commercial bands and jams. Bruce is well known among Vancouver Island music circles as a supportive sideman with an energizing percussive playing style and playful wit. Like his prairie roots, Bruce's approach to music is uncomplicated and neighborly- a grassroots way of meeting new folks, encouraging harmonious relationships, and inspiring new music all at the same time. Bruce and Judy co-write many of their songs, skillfully merging his creative instrumental arrangements with her melodic leanings and poetic lyrics.
